How to Freeze Your Credit With Experian, Equifax and TransUnion

March 22nd, 2020

After having our car broken into, checkbook stolen and unauthorized checks written against our account, we decided it would be a good idea to lock down our credit accounts.  We chose to "freeze" our accounts as opposed to "lock"ing them.  Freezing and unfreezing the accounts is free, easy to do and in most cases can be handled online in a matter of minutes.  Locking accounts is free for some but requires monthly charges for others.

KeePass

Given the vast number of accounts I have on various systems, I've needed a password manager for many years.  I've used PHPchain for quite a while and overall, it's been decent, however, it doesn't lend itself well to mobile devices and if my website is down for any reason, I'm out of luck.  I've used KeePass at work for a while, but there wasn't a web based version I was comfortable with.  I did recently find some documentation on how to set up KeePass clients Windows/Linux (KeePassXC), Android (KeePass2Android), and iPhone (Strongbox), using cloud storage to host the password database file.  This allows me to use the cross platform clients to access the password file locate on the cloud storage site and have a nice interface across all devices.  Below are various links I used to set this up.

Pairing this with DriveHQ as the storage location for the KeePass Database is the current recommendation.
