Pool Level Sensor
As a first time pool owner, I learned that I need to fill my pool very often - during the hot summer months, sometimes daily. Failure to do so will result in a situation where the water level is below the skimmer and the pump will pull air instead of water, overheat and possibly suffer permanent damage. After the pool overflowed once due to the fill valve being left open too long, I created an arduino program that lets me trigger a sprinkler valve to open for a specific amount of time, then I set up a schedule to open that valve daily. While this is a huge improvement and generally works very well, it is still a blind fill with no way to detect the water level. At some point, I plan to build on my existing setup and add the ability to detect the water level. With that capability, I'll be able to completely automate filling the pool. Here are some related links for when I have time to work on this project.
