Charging/Storage with the iMax B6 Mini
I have a Li-Po battery that I use for spot welding battery packs. I use the iMax B6 Mini balance charger to charge (and discharge) the battery. Since I only use it once in a while, it can be a bit confusing to remember how to set it up properly.
IMPORTANT: Charging LiPo's comes with an inherent risk. ALWAYS place the battery in a fireproof charging bag to be safe.
Connect the balance charger lead (small white connector) from the Turnigy battery to the Balance Socket on the iMax B6 Mini.
Use the appropriate connector for the Output on the iMax and connect to the XT-90 (yellow) connector
Set the iMax B6 Mini to:
- LiPo Balance Chg
- 5.0 A
- 11.1V(3S)
The 5.0 Amps should be the same as the amp hour rating of the battery - rounding DOWN if necessary.
The 11.1V(3S) is the number of cells in the battery (3 for the Turnigy)
The battery needs to be discharged to a certain level for long term storage. To do so, set the iMax B6 up as follows:
- LiPo Storage
- 5.0 A
- 11.1V(3S)
